Racing Again

Last weekend, Liesel and I ran a 5K with my Aunt Deb and cousin Kyle for the Sweet Corn Fest. Lots of fun, but it was slammed in between a rehearsal dinner and a wedding, so I wasn't exactly on my best behavior the night before, unless of course a couple beers count as a good pre-run carb diet! We had a ton of fun though... well I did and Lies put up with my speed! (She's a titch quicker than me!)

Aunt Deb is already planning our next 5K in Oct for the Especially For You 5K against Breast Cancer. As a survivor herself, it's pretty cool that she is running it with us. Let me know if you're interested in joining the SKALA team, in honor of Deb and her victory!

Also in Oct, we'll be doing the Killer Bee for the St. Ambrose homecoming weekend. Even Cade runs that one, so bring your kids (young and old) to the Quad Cities on 10/10!

Proof from the fun

Well, I retrieved the camera... and here is our sweet Goddaughter with us at her baptism:

Then, we spent some time with Jarin's parents at the hotel pool. After scarfing down pizza and cookies, I caught sight of this ....

Okay, so I know this is mean, but c'mon what parent wouldn't be proud of this kind of chunk? Baby got back!

And here are a few favorites from Adventureland with my parents:

Quality Time Together

We returned home last weekend after a jam-packed week! We did it all, from baptisms, birthdays, and family reunions.... to parks, waterparks, themeparks, zoos, and wineries... all through South Dakota, Minnesota, Illinois, and Iowa. Wow, we are wiped! I have so many fun pictures to share, but after the trip to the winery I left the camera behind. I think mom has recovered... uh, I mean recovered my camera, so I'll have pictures to share soon. :-)

Awaiting for us in the mail when we returned was an invitation to Caden's preschool orientation. I can't believe that he is starting "school" this year. Seems like just yesterday we were freaking out about his early arrival in this world. Of course, he can't go to school unless he decides to make potty. I really believe that Alayna will beat him to the punch.

Caden started a new thing this week where he completely plays the big brother role. Always telling Alayna what to do when, how to do it and why, and then pulling her along by the arm and questioning her: "yes? or no Layna?" So funny!

One more story to share... Monday I had the kids at the mall, and a woman asked if they were twins... Aw, poor Alayna got called out on her weight again!

Anyway, didn't want to return to work on Monday. If anyone has a great recommendation for part-time work, que me in as I'd love to spend quality time with the kids like that every week.
